This short commentary discusses the role of urban governance in enhancing resilience in Indonesia’s cities amid the combined pressures of urbanization, globalization, and climate change.
The article argues that achieving urban resilience requires transformative solutions tailored to urban problems, disaster characteristics, and resilience governance. Critical elements include:
Comprehensive planning,
1. Adequate funding,
2. Active participation,
3. Collaboration, coordination, and cooperation among sectors and actors.
By highlighting these elements, the commentary provides practical references and learning material for addressing urban challenges and advancing sustainable urban governance. It contributes to the literature by enriching discussions on the interconnections between resilience and sustainability in the context of Indonesian urban environments.
