The entry of Generation Z into the workforce is fundamentally transforming the job and workplace landscape. The transformation is characterized by a pressing demand for employers and organizations to comprehend and accommodate their distinct values, expectations, and preferences to successfully recruit, engage, and retain this demographic.
This study describes Generation Z’s expectations regarding their future job and workplace based on surveys and interviews with 69 respondents. Results indicate that salary (83%), workplace environment (62%), and working hours and location (40%) are the main priorities. The use of technology in their work triggered several changes. However, regression analysis shows a weak correlation between career expectations and work motivation, suggesting that while their career expectations do not strongly influence work motivation, job and workplace-related characteristics should still be considered for Generation Z employees.
