This research explores Indonesia’s forestry policies as crucial contributions to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing on sustainable forest management, climate change, and partnerships. Using a qualitative approach, it highlights implementation challenges at the local level and the interaction between global policies and socio-political dynamics regionally.
The study finds that adopting REDD+-based policies (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) strategically supports environmental sustainability but requires strong local stakeholder collaboration. Emphasizing synergy among government, indigenous communities, and the private sector is key to ensuring inclusive and sustainable forest management aligned with local culture and traditional practices.
