Gender Equality emphasizes the importance of providing equal opportunities for both women and men to grow, develop, and contribute. Women are not merely supporters within the family, but also key actors in strengthening the economy, society, and sustainable development.
One tangible manifestation of SDG 5 implementation can be seen in the work of FISIP Unpad lecturer, Dr. Ratih Purbasari, S.Sos., M.SM, through the program “Go Woman Digipreneur Jatinangor.” This initiative engaged PKK cadres and housewives in Cikeruh Village, Jatinangor, to learn how to transform household waste into marketable handicraft products using decoupage techniques, while also equipping them with the skills to promote and sell their products through digital marketplaces.
The results have been remarkable. Participants not only produced creative works but also gained greater confidence in entering the digital entrepreneurship ecosystem. Through this training, women are equipped with practical skills, entrepreneurial knowledge, and strong motivation to become independent and competitive woman digipreneurs.
This initiative exemplifies how FISIP Unpad academics extend their contributions beyond scholarly pursuits, creating direct and meaningful impacts on the community. Gender equality is not merely a concept but a concrete action that enables women to create, to be empowered, and to actively contribute to sustainable development
