A team of researchers from Universitas Padjadjaran—Ahmad Zaini Miftah, Ida Widianingsih, Connie Hoe, and Irvan Afriandi conducted a historical review of the Indonesian government’s response to health crises, tracing lessons from the Spanish Flu to the COVID-19 pandemic. This study has been published in One Health (Publisher: Elsevier B.V) and is indexed in Q1.

The study reveals that while outbreaks of communicable diseases are recurring, Indonesia’s response has often been constrained by policy fragmentation, weak coordination, and limited integration of the One Health approach that connects human, animal, and environmental health.

By drawing lessons from past crises, the research emphasizes the importance of cross-sectoral collaboration and systemic reform to build a more resilient health system. These insights directly contribute to advancing SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, strengthening Indonesia’s preparedness for future pandemics.
