Space security in Indo-Pacific: an Indonesian perspective

https://www.scopus.com/pages/publications/105002641633

A research led by Arfin Sudirman and Taufik Rachmat Nugraha from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) Universitas Padjadjaran offers fresh insights into Indonesia’s perspective on space security in the Indo-Pacific. This research has been published in Asian Security journal (Q1 Journal). Fully funded by Universitas Padjadjaran through the Riset Data Pustaka dan Daring (RDPD) program, the research spotlights a critical policy gap: the absence of the term Dirgantara in the Indonesian National Armed Forces Law No. 34/2004—signaling a desecuritization of space threats and raising potential risks to national defense.

The authors call on the government to reintroduce Dirgantara into the legal framework and to evaluate the necessity of developing space defence capabilities.
