This study provides a scientific framework for addressing global issues related to the cross-scale dynamics of social-ecological systems. It explores how governance institutions should align their behavior with the ecosystems they manage.
The findings are based on a taxonomy of literature evaluated through three analytical lenses:
1. Time analysis — tracing the evolution of resilience governance research,
2. Terminology analysis — mapping core conceptual debates,
3. Typology analysis — identifying governance models and frameworks.
The article argues that resilience-based governance is an emerging trend capable of stabilizing organizational systems and offering pathways for alternative resilience models. By doing so, it enriches the literature on governance institutions and their role in sustaining socio-ecological systems.
This work directly supports SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).
