Blue Impact: Sustainable Land Use Initiative through Lavender Planting at FISIP Unpad

The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Universitas Padjadjaran, through the Environmental Department of BEM FISIP, has taken a concrete step toward sustainable land use by organizing the Blue Impact event on July 15, 2025.

This initiative responded to rising environmental and health concerns on campus, including the spread of mosquitoes and unmanaged waste. The program introduced an innovative ecological approach by planting 31 lavender (Lavandula spp.) seedlings, which are widely known for their mosquito-repellent properties, while also enhancing the campus’ green landscape.

By integrating ecological solutions with active student participation, this initiative demonstrates FISIP Unpad’s commitment to sustainable ecosystem management. The event directly contributes to the achievement of SDG 15 (Life on Land), while also strengthening the culture of environmental responsibility among the academic community.
