A research team from Public Administration Department, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Padjadjaran, —Ida Widianingsih, Abdillah Abdillah, Djoko Hartoyo, Sapen Sartika Unyi Putri, Ahmad Zaini Miftah, and Qinthara Mubarak Adikancana—has conducted a significant study on land use change planning for sustainable and resilient rural development in Tarumajaya Village, Indonesia. This study has been published in Scientific Reports (Publisher: Nature Research) and is indexed in Q1.

The research, conducted through a qualitative case study approach, highlights the need to increase access to land ownership for both the Village Government and local communities to ensure justice and prosperity. It explores practical alternatives to expand community access to land, including the potential utilization of PT. Lonsum Indofood Tbk’s land, PTPN VIII, and Perhutani areas, to be managed by the Village Government for community benefit.

Based on field data, the study recommends land allocation for agricultural needs, reserve settlements, cemeteries, governance and education facilities, as well as productive ventures for local livelihoods. By emphasizing the importance of sustainable land governance, equitable access, and resilient development, this research provides a strategic framework for empowering rural communities.

The findings underscore the role of inclusive and innovative land management in fostering justice, prosperity, and long-term sustainability in Tarumajaya Village. Moreover, this study presents a transferable model for other rural regions seeking to balance development needs with environmental and social resilience.
