On June 25th, the Faculty of Social and Political Science at Padjadjaran University conducted an internal study to measure the amount of food waste and anorganic waste generated across our Jatinangor campus. The findings were eye-opening: in just one day, 105 kilograms of food waste and 9 kilograms anorganic waste were accumulated from 8 different areas within our building. Aligning with the objectives of SDG 2, which aims to end hunger and achieve food security, the previous data underscores an urgent need for greater awareness and action.
Understanding the current status of food waste on our campus is the first step in our commitment to fostering a more sustainable environment. By recognizing the extent of food waste we generate daily, the Faculty of Social and Political Science at Padjadjaran University aims to significantly reduce this waste over time. To achieve our goal, responsible consumption behaviors among our students, faculty, and staff is highly endorsed.
We invite all members of the Faculty of Social and Political Science at Padjadjaran University to join us in this important endeavor. Let’s take responsibility for our consumption habits, reduce waste, and contribute to a more sustainable future for our campus and beyond.
