This article, authored by a research team from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Padjadjaran,, was published in 2025 in the Journal of Marine and Island Cultures.
This paper addresses the social side of tourism carrying capacity (TCC), focusing on small island tourism with a case study of the Pari Islands, Jakarta’s capital. It uses a management and experience perspective approach by analyzing views from both local residents and tourists.

The findings show that tourism on Pari Island has not yet reached the social carrying capacity limit (52 people per hectare), but sustainable tourism management strategies, including a quota system, are urgently needed. This study helps strengthen sustainable tourism practices in key national tourism areas. DOI: 10.21463/jmic.2025.14.1.04
