FISIP Universitas Padjadjaran Demonstrates Commitment to Environmental Sustainability through Community Engagement

FISIP Universitas Padjadjaran has reinforced its commitment to environmental sustainability through a Community Service (PPM) program integrated with the Student Community Service (KKN) in the even semester of the 2023/2024 academic year. The program, held from January 5 to February 6, 2024, at Unpad’s PSDKU Pangandaran Campus and in Cintaratu Village, involved 27 students from various faculties, along with lecturers, local staff, and the surrounding community.

The program focused on planting and maintaining 500 saplings of durian and avocado trees. These crops were selected not only for their high economic value but also for their suitability to the local soil conditions, with the expectation of generating long-term benefits for both the campus and the community. The participation of local residents from the planning stage also highlights that the program goes beyond conservation, emphasizing collaboration and empowerment.

As a continuation of the previous year’s PPM activities, which concentrated on identifying regional potential, this year’s program has advanced toward more practical implementation. In the future, the cultivated land is envisioned to evolve into an edu-agrotourism area, ensuring that conservation efforts progress hand in hand with educational, economic, and eco-tourism benefits.
