This study explores the transformative role of coastal women, especially fish vendors locally called “Bakul,” in the male-dominated coastal economy along the North Coast of Java Island. Through qualitative methods including in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation, the research reveals how these women have built innovative economic networks and expanded market access despite structural and social challenges. The findings highlight the crucial role of Bakul in supporting family economies and fostering economic stability via business innovation and partnership management.
