A new study published in Sustainability by a research team from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Padjadjaran examines how Bandung’s culinary micro-enterprises survived the COVID-19 crisis. The research highlights that financial agility, not just innovation, was the most critical factor in business resilience, challenging traditional entrepreneurial assumptions.

Led by Dinna Charisma, Bambang Hermanto, Margo Purnomo, and Tetty Herawati from FISIP Unpad, the study analyzed 125 micro-businesses and found that knowledge management capabilities strengthened entrepreneurial strategies, with financial adaptability proving more vital than marketing or orientation during disruptions. The team recommends enhanced digital infrastructure and financial inclusion policies to better prepare small businesses for future crises.
