WELCOME to Doctoral Programme of Social Welfare

Universitas Padjadjaran

The Doctoral Programme of Social Welfare at Universitas Padjadjaran was established in accordance to the Decree of the Minister of Education of Republic Indonesia No. 29/D/O/2011 for the establishment of Study Programme of Social Welfare (Doctoral) at Universitas Padjadjaran. The establishment of this programme aimed to meet the increasing demand of competent Doctor of Social Welfare in the society that are expected to be able to develop existing knowledge, practice, and intervention model in social welfare to investigate, challenge, and solve the issues underlying the social welfare concerns in Indonesia. In addition, the increasing demand of researchers, academics, and social welfare analysist who hold a Doctoral degree has also been influenced by the spread of welfare state, welfare and human rights, and welfare governance issues in the society in which the state and society are responsible for increasing the well-being of their citizens. The Doctoral Programme of Social Welfare at Universitas Padjadjaran has been accredited B by National Accreditation Board for Higher Education in Indonesia.

Vision

About Us

Curriculum

The Doctoral Programme of Social Welfare has two curriculums, including mixed curriculum (courses and dissertation 58 credits) and curriculum by research (dissertation only). The mixed   curriculum was for those who pursued a Ph.D. before and in 2015

Dissertation Research

For those who pursue a PhD by research are not obliged to attend courses unless they were suggested by their promotor to sit-in on several undergraduate and master’s courses that are useful for their dissertation research

Staff Profiles

All staff of this study programme play an important role as both a lecturer and supervisor for dissertation, which most of them are either Professor or Head Lector. The staff, who have a good reputation academically in local, national, or international level, have an advanced competency in teaching and research

Admission

We welcome prospective students with social welfare and non-social welfare academic background to apply for our doctorate program. The Program opens admission twice a year.

RECENT ACTIVITIES:

 

INTERNATIONAL VISITING PROFESSORS

From September 15th to October 17th, FISIP UNPAD, through Social Welfare Department hosted Professor Mary McCarthy, a Fulbright Specialist from School of Social Welfare, State University of New York at Albany. The main goal of her visit is to accelerate the internationalization of social work education institution through the enhancement of  international research and publication. During her stay at FISIP UNPAD, Professor Mary McCarthy has conducted several activities at Social Welfare Graduate Programs.

In mid October 2019, the Social Welfare Graduate Program also hosted Associate Professor Yiyi Chen, Ph.D. from Department of Social Work, National Taiwan University. Professor YiYi came to deliver a guest lecture on social work education in Taiwan, provide consultation for students who select community development topic for their dissertation and discuss about joint research and publication with the faculty.

  • More than 80 participants, who were Masters and Doctoral students, learned about the ways research and data are used to understand the child welfare system in the US. The lecture involved participants engagement through discussion and presentations in which most of the participants considered pursuing one of the topics of discussions for their research.
